En 1635 comenz\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n del Fuerte de Amsterdam, en la orilla oriental de la bah\u00eda de Santa Ana. Construido con piedra de coral y muros de hasta tres metros de grosor, se convirti\u00f3 en el cuartel general de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda Holandesa de las Indias Occidentales. En la actualidad sigue siendo la sede del gobierno de Cura\u00e7ao.   <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c483b77 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c483b77\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><b>Los cuatro distritos hist\u00f3ricos<\/b><\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovpm.org\/fr\/ville\/willemstad-curacao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Willemstad<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  est\u00e1 estructurada en torno a cuatro distritos que trazan tres siglos de desarrollo urbano. Punda, el m\u00e1s antiguo, se construy\u00f3 en el siglo XVII seg\u00fan los principios urban\u00edsticos holandeses, con sus calles estrechas y casas con frontones triangulares. La tradici\u00f3n popular dice que esta decisi\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n pretend\u00eda aliviar sus migra\u00f1as, pero esta explicaci\u00f3n sigue siendo materia de leyenda. Apodada la &#8220;Vieja Dama Balanceante&#8221;, se balancea lateralmente utilizando dos motores di\u00e9sel y h\u00e9lices perpendiculares para dejar pasar a los barcos.
