Nada pod\u00eda predecir que, un siglo despu\u00e9s, su nombre resonar\u00eda en todo el mundo como el de un hombre que influy\u00f3 en el curso de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Estudiante brillante y becario, abandon\u00f3 el Caribe para estudiar en Francia. Tras licenciarse en la \u00c9cole Coloniale en 1908, eligi\u00f3 una carrera administrativa en el \u00c1frica Ecuatorial Francesa, donde demostr\u00f3 ser un gran conocedor de la sociedad local.   <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta carrera ejemplar ya ha dado a \u00c9bou\u00e9 una doble identidad: <\/span><b>un hombre caribe\u00f1o<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> por sus or\u00edgenes <\/span><b>un actor en \u00c1frica<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> por sus responsabilidades coloniales.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5214e28 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5214e28\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-dade06d\" data-id=\"dade06d\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d1b711d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d1b711d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">26 de agosto de 1940: una elecci\u00f3n decisiva<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a454b32 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a454b32\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tras el armisticio firmado por Francia en junio de 1940, el imperio colonial se convirti\u00f3 en una cuesti\u00f3n crucial. Mientras el gobierno de Vichy intentaba mantener su dominio, el general De Gaulle ped\u00eda desde Londres que continuara la lucha. Gobernador de Chad desde 1938, F\u00e9lix \u00c9bou\u00e9 se enfrent\u00f3 a un dilema.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b0a6be elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5b0a6be\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le <\/span><b>26 de agosto de 1940<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tom\u00f3 una decisi\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica: <\/span><b>Chad se uni\u00f3 a la Francia Libre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Este valiente gesto es el primer grito de guerra  <\/span><b>principales africanos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  a favor de de Gaulle, unas semanas despu\u00e9s de la de las Nuevas H\u00e9bridas. Con esta iniciativa, un caribe\u00f1o dio al l\u00edder de la Francia Libre una base territorial y simb\u00f3lica esencial. Desde Fort-Lamy (actual Yamena), el \u00c1frica Ecuatorial Francesa se convirti\u00f3 en la base geogr\u00e1fica de la resistencia exterior, la base de retaguardia de las futuras campa\u00f1as dirigidas por Leclerc y las Fuerzas Francesas Libres.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-402a367 elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En los d\u00edas siguientes, otros territorios se unieron al movimiento: Camer\u00fan el 27 de agosto, Congo el 28 de agosto, y luego Oubangui-Chari el 29 de agosto (seg\u00fan algunas fuentes el 30 de agosto). \u00c1frica Ecuatorial estaba en marcha, y \u00c9bou\u00e9 fue su primer art\u00edfice.
