Rien ne laissait pr\u00e9sager qu\u2019un si\u00e8cle plus tard, son nom r\u00e9sonnerait \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale comme celui d\u2019un homme qui a pes\u00e9 dans le cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Brillant \u00e9l\u00e8ve, boursier, il quitte la Cara\u00efbe pour suivre des \u00e9tudes en m\u00e9tropole. Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00c9cole coloniale en 1908, il choisit une carri\u00e8re administrative en Afrique \u00e9quatoriale fran\u00e7aise, o\u00f9 il fait ses preuves comme fin connaisseur des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s locales.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ce parcours exemplaire inscrit d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00c9bou\u00e9 dans une double appartenance : <\/span><b>homme de la Cara\u00efbe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> par ses origines, <\/span><b>acteur de l\u2019Afrique<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> par ses responsabilit\u00e9s coloniales.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5214e28 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5214e28\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-dade06d\" data-id=\"dade06d\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d1b711d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d1b711d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Le 26 ao\u00fbt 1940 : un choix d\u00e9cisif<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a454b32 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a454b32\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Au lendemain de l\u2019armistice sign\u00e9 par la France en juin 1940, l\u2019Empire colonial devient un enjeu crucial. Tandis que le gouvernement de Vichy tente de maintenir son emprise, le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Gaulle appelle depuis Londres \u00e0 poursuivre le combat. Gouverneur du Tchad depuis 1938, F\u00e9lix \u00c9bou\u00e9 fait face \u00e0 un dilemme.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b0a6be elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5b0a6be\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le <\/span><b>26 ao\u00fbt 1940<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, il prend une d\u00e9cision historique : <\/span><b>le Tchad rallie la France libre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Ce geste courageux est le premier ralliement <\/span><b>africain majeur<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en faveur de de Gaulle, quelques semaines apr\u00e8s celui des Nouvelles-H\u00e9brides. Par cette initiative, un Carib\u00e9en offre au chef de la France libre une assise territoriale et symbolique indispensable. \u00c0 partir de Fort-Lamy (aujourd\u2019hui N\u2019Djamena), l\u2019Afrique \u00e9quatoriale fran\u00e7aise devient le socle g\u00e9ographique de la r\u00e9sistance ext\u00e9rieure, base arri\u00e8re des futures campagnes men\u00e9es par Leclerc et les Forces fran\u00e7aises libres.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-402a367 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"402a367\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dans les jours qui suivent, d\u2019autres territoires rejoignent le mouvement : le Cameroun le 27 ao\u00fbt, le Congo le 28 ao\u00fbt, puis l\u2019Oubangui-Chari le 29 ao\u00fbt (selon certaines sources le 30 ao\u00fbt). La bascule de l\u2019Afrique \u00e9quatoriale est enclench\u00e9e, et \u00c9bou\u00e9 en est le premier artisan.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section cr\u00e9oles peut s\u2019imposer comme figure centrale de la g\u00e9opolitique mondiale.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>\u2705 Un souffle pour les territoires carib\u00e9ens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> : en Guadeloupe et en Martinique, alors soumises \u00e0 l\u2019autorit\u00e9 de Vichy, la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 \u00c9bou\u00e9 nourrit l\u2019esp\u00e9rance de rejoindre la France libre.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>\u2705 Une fiert\u00e9 pour la Guyane<\/b> : sa terre natale voit l\u2019un de ses fils entrer dans l\u2019Histoire universelle.
