The Nouveaux Regards Film Festival (NRFF) returns to Guadeloupe from April 2 to 6, 2025 for what promises to be an exceptional 8th edition. The festival has established itself as an essential reference for Caribbean and international cinema, offering a unique platform for discovery, sharing and innovation.
A festival committed to Caribbean cinema
Since its inception, the Nouveaux Regards Film Festival showcases Caribbean talent, giving it international exposure and facilitating professional exchanges. For this 2025 edition, the Nouveaux Regards Film Festival takes on a new dimension with the development of the NR Academy, a program dedicated to training and supporting emerging talent.
This year, two short films from Martinique have been selected!

What's new at the 2025 Festival
The Mémorial ACTe: Capital of the Festival
In 2025, the Mémorial ACTe will once again become the beating heart of the festival. This emblematic venue, steeped in history, will host screenings, meetings and masterclasses, reinforcing the link between culture, memory and cinematic creation.
La Séance Insolite: A Cinematic Stroll in Pointe-à-Pitre
In an innovative approach, this session takes viewers on an immersive urban adventure, where exploration of the city and cinematic discoveries combine for a unique experience.
Regards Croisés: Intergenerational Film Screening
A place for seniors and high-school students to share their visions of the past and present in a post-screening debate.
Séance Ciné Comme à la Maison – NRFF Special Edition
Presentation of short films Made in Guadeloupe, in a warm and immersive setting, organized by producer Baddy Dega.
La Séance Coup de Cœur – Screening sponsored by Krys
A popular artist shares a favorite film with the public, combining music and cinema.
Un Autre Regard: A Session to Change Perspective
This selection highlights films that challenge norms and question our certainties, offering fresh perspectives.
Libres Regards: Screenings at Baie-Mahault Prison
First edition of short film screenings in prisons, with mediation by CinéMawon to encourage reflection and dialogue.
A Festival at the service of cinema and culture
The Nouveaux Regards Film Festival celebrates the richness of cinema once again this year, showcasing both established and emerging talent through exclusive screenings, discussions and encounters. The jury, made up of influential industry professionals, will have the tough task of rewarding the most outstanding works.
The Short Film Jury
- Leela Issa Agent for directors and screenwriters, specializing in the African and overseas markets. She represents new film talent at Film Talents.
- Damien Jélaine Director, screenwriter and photographer from Guadeloupe. His work has won international awards, including at the Sundance Film Festival.
- Samantha Mazzocco-Reynaud Head of the Canal+ Outremer channel. Committed to raising the profile of overseas talent, she helped create the PACIFIC+ channel.
Young Viewers Jury
The jury is made up of 31 Seconde 8 students from the Lycée Gerville Réache in Basse-Terre, 19 of whom are in the International English section. A unique opportunity for these young people to take a fresh look at the works presented.
Documentary Jury
- Valentine Roulet President of the Tënk platform, committed to supporting documentary filmmakers and cinematic innovation.
- Cyril Bron Renowned director of photography, having worked on major films and series.
- Malaury Eloi Paisley Director and visual artist from Guadeloupe, trained at the Sorbonne and Cuba’s EICTV, with a particular focus on overseas identity and history.

- Patience Priso Producer and Pitch Coach, former Manager Grow Creative at Netflix.
- Gala Frécon Expert in the distribution of VR works, teacher at the École des Gobelins.
- Fabien Magry Coach and mental trainer specialized in supporting artists.

⭐ Opening film – “Transamazonia
A dramatic fresco exploring the struggle between tradition and modernity in the Amazon, directed by Pia Marais and produced by Cinéma Defacto and its international partners.
⭐ Closing Film – “Fanon
A poignant biopic of Frantz Fanon, psychiatrist and anti-colonial activist, directed by Jean-Claude Barny. A powerful work with a Franco-Caribbean production.

Out of 452 Caribbean films entered, 22 short films and documentaries were selected to compete in 9 Caribbean regions: Guadeloupe, Martinique, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago.
Prizes awarded :
- Prix du Jury du Meilleur Documentaire de la Région Guadeloupe (€2,500)
- Prix Révélations Canal+ for Best Antilles-Guyane Short Film (€10,000 for rights and broadcasting)
- Conseil Départemental Talent à Suivre prize (€10,000 for a young director under 30)
- Karibbean Award for Best Script offered by Karibbean Hive.
Young Audience Program – NRFF Kids
As part of its commitment to education in the visual arts, the festival offers screenings adapted for young people:
- School screenings screenings adapted to different school levels.
- NRFF Kids workshop Introduction to screenwriting (ages 8-15).
- Family session Family session: single ticket price of €5.
