The International Documentary Film Festival of Martinique, also known as “Les Rรฉvoltรฉs du Monde”, returns for its 9th edition from April 3 to 12, 2025. The internationally renowned International Documentary Film Festival offers an exclusive selection of 14 never-before-seen films, exploring powerful themes such as social struggles, freedom, equality and justice around the world. It provides a platform for filmmakers and artists to reflect on and raise awareness of crucial social issues.

A committed cinema program

14 new films to be screened at the Martinique International Documentary Film Festival :

  • The origins of slavery (Sonia Dauger & Xavier Lefebvre) – An in-depth analysis of the history of French slavery.
  • Africa – Cold War Hot Spot (Barbara Necek) – The influence of Western powers in Africa during the Cold War.
  • MK, Mandela’s secret army (Osvalde Lewat) – The role of anti-apartheid fighters in South Africa.
  • Catholic boarding schools in French Guiana: the wound (Franรงois Reinhardt) – A reflection on the forced assimilation of young Amerindians.
  • Carlos: the Santana odyssey (Rudy Valdez) – An intimate portrait of the Mexican guitarist.

An exceptional jury

The International Documentary Film Festival will be marked by several awards:

  • Prix Gรฉrard Guillaume” Special Jury Prize
  • Jean-Paul Jouanelle Award for Best Ultramarine Film
  • Best Musical Documentary
  • Prix des Jeunes awarded by 7 high school cinema students.
  • Audience Award awarded to the “favorite” documentary.

The International Documentary Film Festival jury is made up of seven cultural professionals, including :

  • Murielle Bedot (body connection consultant, quoted by Forbes 2024)
  • Camille Mauduech (jury president, director and screenwriter)
  • Saรฏdou Bernabe (expert in 3D animation and special effects)
  • Cheikh Nguirane (lecturer in English civilization)
  • Fabrice Thรฉodose (deputy editorial director, Martinique la 1รจre)
  • Johan-Hilel Hamel (Director of Cultural Affairs, Martinique)
  • Danielle Renรฉ-Corail (artist and cultural administrator)

  • Documentary writing and directing (Sonia Dauger)
  • Documentary production (Fanny Glissant)
