Carnaval de Guyane 2025

French Guiana Carnival 2025 promises to be a memorable event with the return of the Bal Touloulou, scheduled for February 17 at the Espace “TIBUZEL”. This initiative, supported by the Tak Pi Tak Kamalaguli and chaired by Gina Omear Laville, aims to breathe new life into a tradition that is gradually fading away. Through the French Guiana Carnival 2025 the desire to return to authentic, festive roots is more relevant than ever.

From the French West Indies to the fashion capitalCarnaval in Peril: The need for renewal

The night carnival, in particular the bal paré-masqué, went through a period of decline in Saint-Laurent du Maroni. Members of the association noted a certain weariness among participants, who were often preoccupied with overly sophisticated outfits. As Gina Omear Laville points out: “We want a simpler, more festive, more authentic carnival. With this approach, Tak Pi Tak Kamalaguli hopes to revive the very essence of Touloulou.

Created in November 2024, the association is committed to revitalizing carnival traditions. Dance and sewing workshops are organized every week to prepare new generations to relive the atmosphere of the balls of yesteryear. These efforts are aimed not only at preserving cultural heritage, but also at encouraging the participation of young people.

A unique evening: the Touloulou Ball on February 17

The French Guiana Carnival 2025, a long-awaited ball, promises to be a highlight of the St. Laurent carnival. It will take place in an exceptional setting, the Espace “TIBUZEL”, and will feature renowned local artists. The program will include an opening performance by the orchestra Se Konsa followed by performances by Lexios de Sinnamary and Jules Thomas lead singer of La Difficile. As guest of honor, Nadège Chovey will set the evening alight before the apotheosis with the band Infuzion.

The association Tak Pi Tak Kamalaguli doesn’t just organize the French Guiana Carnival 2025. It works closely with other cultural players, such as the Groupe Privé de Karnaval (GPK) to bring new expertise and energy to this celebration. The aim is to create a lasting dynamic that will extend well beyond this edition.

Cultural transmission: a strong commitment

The association doesn’t just organize a ball. It also organizes various activities to raise public awareness of the history and culture of the
Touloulou. Dance and sewing workshops enable members to make their own outfits. A member of the association comments: “This year, several ladies will be coming with traditional dresses they’ve sewn themselves. It’s a welcome return to our roots”.

Tak Pi Tak Kamalaguli also joins forces with the Center de Création Artistique Muriel Merlin and Spanish company Lodudo Prod for an original choreographic creation around the Touloulou which will be presented during the evening.

An evening not to be missed

With a capacity of 150 cars and reinforced security in partnership with the RSMA. The February 17 ball promises to be a major event in French Guiana Carnival 2025. Gina Omear Laville insists: “It’s an evening full of novelties: a new space, a new concept, a return to tradition. You have to be there to experience it!

The date is set for February 17, 2025 from 10pm to 5am at Espace “TIBUZEL”. This will be a unique opportunity to rediscover the magic of the Touloulou in a festive and convivial atmosphere. As a Caribbean expert, don’t miss this chance to take part in an event that combines tradition and modernity.

Momentum for the future

The French Guiana Carnival 2025 and the Bal Touloulou represent much more than a simple celebration. They embody a genuine return to Guyana’s cultural roots, a desire to pass on and share the carnival heritage. By taking part in the Carnaval de Guyane 2025, every visitor becomes a player in this renaissance, contributing to the continuity of the traditions that make up the richness of Guyanese culture.

France-Brazil: In French Guiana, the suspension of short-stay visas corrects a border anomaly.

The decision was signed in Brasília, but its effects will be felt along the banks ofthe Oyapock River. On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, France and Brazil adopted a roadmap aimed at strengthening their cooperation along the French Guiana border. In particular, the agreement provides for the suspension of the short-stay visa requirement for Brazilian nationals wishing to travel to French Guiana, effective July 31. On paper, this is an administrative measure. In reality, it touches on a more sensitive issue: that of a border long perceived by residents as close, yet complicated by regulations. An anomaly that is difficult to defend The France-Brazil announcement rectifies a situation often described as unfair. Brazilian nationals could travel to mainland France without a short-stay

Saint Lucia Carnival 2026: 22 Days to Give a Voice to Saint Lucia

From July 1 to 22, the 2026 Saint Lucia Carnival marks one of the island’s most eagerly anticipated cultural events. For three weeks, the island builds up to the big parade days, but the carnival is about more than just the final spectacle of costumes in the streets. It takes shape beforehand, through rehearsals, competitions, neighborhood celebrations, and the voices that bring Castries to life. Even before the bands take to the streets, the carnival makes itself heard. A soca track drifts from a cell phone to a bus. Artists test out their songs. Groups fine-tune the final details. In Saint Lucia, the carnival doesn’t happen all at once. It builds until it becomes a collective voice. A cultural season—not just a parade The official program for the 2026 Saint Lucia Carnival announces a full season, featuring calypso and soca competitions, community events, Junior Carnival, J’Ouvert, King and Queen of
