The Local Agro-Transformation Award 2024 organized by the Pôle Agroressources et de Recherche de la Martinique (PARM) in partnership with Carrefour Martinique, rewarded four Martinican companies for their innovation in the agri-food and cosmetics sectors. The award aims to promote food autonomy and local creativity, by highlighting products that combine tradition and modernity.

Winners of the 2024 Local Agro-Transformation Prize

The winning companies, Potager des Mornes, Alohé, Excellence Glaces and Cerise Peyi were awarded in four separate categories: Beverages, Cosmetics, Sweet and Savoury. Each of these companies presented an innovative product that meets the needs of the Martinique region, while respecting the criteria of sustainability and commercial success.

Winning categories and products

Drinks : Le Potager des Mornes won this prize with its basil-cinnamon kefir a naturally sparkling, alcohol-free fermented beverage that combines local flavors with innovation.

Cosmetics : Alohé won an award for its hair milk with okra a cosmetic product that makes the most of Martinique’s natural resources.

Épicerie Sucrée : Excellence Glaces won with La Flamme an ice cream that highlights the creativity and quality of local products.

Savoury : Cerise Peyi was singled out for its vegetable manioc pepper galette a product that combines tradition and culinary innovation.

The importance of the Local Agro-Transformation Award 2024

Selection criteria for the Local Agro-Transformation Award 2024 were strict, including product innovation, contribution to Martinique’s agriculture, market potential and sustainability. The jury, chaired by Pierre Gitany, evaluated the candidates according to these criteria, while leaving room for personal favorites, underlining the importance of the human factor in the selection process.

The partnership between Carrefour Martinique and PARM has made it possible to create a support fund thanks to a collection organized in Carrefour stores from March 5 to 17, 2024. Applications were open until September 30, 2024. Companies had to present an innovative product contributing to Martinique’s food self-sufficiency.
