Puerto Rico: Escale Business Rotary San Juan in Martinique

Escale Business Rotary San Juan

The Escale Business Rotary San Juan, held on March 20, 2025 in Fort-de-France, was not just another event. It was a signal. That of an open Martinique, in direct dialogue with its Caribbean neighbors, ready to co-construct new economic dynamics. Some thirty Puerto Rican investors and players met with the region’s driving forces: a meeting on a human scale, but with immense potential.

This meeting was born of the friendship and shared desire of Sandra Casanova and Antonio Tito Colorado, two Caribbean people convinced that ties of the heart can become levers of opportunity for our territories.

Forging links where trade routes remain complicated

All too often, the Caribbean islands know little about each other. There are few exchanges, and even fewer joint projects. And yet, complementarities do exist. This stopover of the San Juan Social Club – orchestrated by Martinique Dรฉveloppement the Collectivitรฉ Territoriale de Martinique and in conjunction with institutions such as the CCI and CMT – aimed to fill this gap.

Around the table: Puerto Rican investors discovering the terrain of Martinique, local project leaders ready to share their vision, and a common desire to open up unprecedented channels of collaboration.

“We’re here to get to know each other”, summed up one of the guests, emphasizing that this meeting was less a formal salon than a frank, direct and human dialogue.

Tourism, green energy, innovation: there's no shortage of ideas

Among the initiatives highlighted at this Escale Business Rotary San Juan, several projects from Martinique attracted the interest of Puerto Rican investors. Saidou Bernabรฉ, co-founder of Parallel 14, presented his incubator and gas pedal dedicated to the creative and digital industries, anchored in a logic of local innovation and international openness.

The ethical brand Kadalys, which specializes in the valorization of bananas through sustainable cosmetics, presented its circular model combining local excellence and international ambition. Le Golf de la Martinique, for its part, presented its development prospects, with a focus on upscale tourism and the attractiveness of the region.

The Fabre Group, represented by Enguerrand Fabre, shared its experience in the hotel and construction sectors. Finally, Jonathan Leury presented an entrepreneurial ecosystem including Green Pรฉyi (sustainable agriculture), Kalinabio (organic and local products), and clikOdoc, a Martinique-based online medical appointment booking solution founded by Rodolphe-Emmanuel Hospice, which facilitates access to care while reducing medical absenteeism.

These entrepreneurs, with their varied profiles but driven by the same energy, illustrated Martinique’s potential for innovation, and the wealth of its talents. The backdrop was a shared desire to build concrete bridges with Puerto Rican players, in order to develop projects with a strong local impact, but with a regional scope.

More than an event, a state of mind

What this meeting reveals, beyond the business cards exchanged, is the desire for openness. A strategic openness, but also a cultural, linguistic and human openness. This Escale Business Rotary San Juan is a marker of what the Caribbean could become: an area of fluid exchanges, economic complementarity and shared innovation.

And if Martinique is fully capable of playing this role as a connecting platform between territories, it’s because it has the capacity to do so: solid infrastructures, local talent, tourist appeal and now, a strong desire to reach out to others.

Haiti – KONPA listed by UNESCO: when a rhythm becomes a world heritage site

The KONPA has just made history. On December 10, 2025, at the annual session of the Intergovernmental Committee, the UNESCO has officially inscribed “Le Compas d’Haรฏti” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. A new milestone for this rhythm born in the 1950s, which has become one of the pillars of Haiti’s identity and a musical language shared throughout the Caribbean. This decision is not just symbolic: it confirms the cultural, social and intergenerational importance of KONPA, and its role in building a collective imagination well beyond Haiti’s borders. Worldwide recognition for a living heritage For UNESCO, KONPA ‘s listing is due to its unique ability to bring people together. Behind the notes, there is a real sociability, a set of gestures, codes, practices and transmissions that have been passed down through several generations. It can be danced, learned and inherited.
